On Friday, January 17th, Eldred JSHS Students got to take part in the 4th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service Youth Summit hosted by Sullivan 180 and SUNY Sullivan.
The summit featured a screening of Dr. King's "Blueprint for Life" speech, emphasizing belief in oneself, determination, and commitment. Students engaged in critical thinking workshops led by community leaders, analyzing MLK quotes and their personal relevance. Activities fostered service-minded attitudes towards their schools and communities. Keynote speaker John Johnson inspired youth with the message of purpose. A key highlight was a visit from Lieutenant Governor Antonio Delgado, who acknowledged the youth's voices and roles.
The MLK Day of Service Youth Summit is made possible by the support of several community partners and organizations. JSHS is grateful to have this opportunity for our students.
