2024 Connection Series - Cornell Cooperative Extension
Eldred JSHS Faculty spent the afternoon going through Catch My Breath Training offered by Sullivan 180. We are happy to have such a great partnership with their organization while also learning about an important topic impacting our schools.
It's Back! The GRM PTA's 3rd Annual Read-A-Thon! Students will log how many minutes they spend reading in the month of October. Students will ask friends and family to sponsor them and help raise funds for our PTA. Individual prizes such as tokens for the book vending machine, prize bags and gift certificates are up for grabs for students who register & log minutes. Once again, Mr. Carpentieri, will celebrate at the end of this event by either getting his hair dyed green, being slimed or getting dunked in the dunk tank. On Thursday, September 19, Eldred JSHS held their annual Open House. Thank you to everyone who came out. A special shoutout to Mrs. Galvin-Bliefernich and her students who provided all kinds of different snacks and hor d'oeuvres for the evening. There was plenty to go around.

Welcome back to another school year! We hope the first two weeks of school have gone well. Eldred's PTSA is excited and ready to kick off our annual membership drive!

The purpose of a PTSA is to bring together families, students, teachers, school administrators, and local business and community leaders who are devoted to the education success of children and the promotion of parent involvement in schools. One of our main goals is to support learning and social-emotional development by providing diverse, innovative, and educational opportunities to the students in the JSHS.
Our first meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, September 24th at 6:00 PM. We will be meeting in the Library of the JSHS. We hope to see you there!

The Junior Senior High School held their annual Club Fair for all students today. Students got to walk around the gym and cafeteria hallway to check out all the clubs JSHS has to offer, and join them if interested. The Club Fair will also remain up for our Open House tonight that begins at 6:00pm.

Sullivan BOCES is hosting an educator information session to discuss the future of high school graduation measures in New York State. The educators' session will take place on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Sullivan BOCES Office & Conference Center, located at 15 Sullivan Ave., Liberty.

This event is part of the ongoing efforts by the New York State Blue Ribbon Commission on Graduation Measures to gather community feedback on their recommendations for new diploma requirements. The Commission, which presented its recommendations to the Board of Regents in November 2023, is now seeking input from educators, parents, students, and community members on how to best implement these changes. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage in small group discussions, provide valuable feedback, and help shape the future of education in New York State. Topics of discussion will include expanding learning experiences, redefining credit requirements, offering multiple means for demonstrating proficiency, and more.
