Dear Parents and Guardians,

A small number of students and staff members were exposed to a staff member who tested positive for COVID-19 at the Mackenzie Elementary School. Due to this exposure, those staff and students are in the process of being notified and will be quarantined based on the Sullivan County Health Department guidelines.

Our elementary school, George Ross Mackenzie, will be closed tomorrow, Thursday, April 8, 2021, for deep cleaning. Teachers will be leading instruction remotely. The elementary school will reopen, Friday, April 9th and continue to operate on the Group A/B in-person schedule. Since this exposure impacts a small number of students and staff members, we are able to continue instruction and supervision with the use of our substitutes. Eldred Jr/Sr High School students and staff are not affected by this incident.

The exposed staff and students are required to quarantine for ten (10) days. It is important that you know, we will continue to provide instruction to all students, whether in-person or remotely.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

Sincerely,

T. Ferreira Sign
